BUYER'S COMPARISON
Ford Bronco Raptor vs F-150 Raptor
Both are Ford's halo off-road vehicles. Both carry the Raptor name. They are not the same platform, and they aren't direct competitors. Here's what actually differs, what an owner needs to know for UAE use, and what aftermarket parts cross over.
Quick Answer
- Bronco Raptor: shorter, lighter, more extreme geometry. 47.2° approach, 40.5° departure. Ships with 37" tires, independent front suspension (IFS) + 5-link rear.[1]
- F-150 Raptor: longer wheelbase, 35" tires stock, double-wishbone front + 5-link rear with coils. More highway-capable and better for towing.[1]
- Suspension travel: ~13" front / 14" rear on both — similar capacity, different geometry.[1]
- Aftermarket cross-over: minimal. Different chassis, different bolt patterns, different wheelbases. Treat them as separate platforms when buying parts.
1. The platform difference
Despite sharing the Raptor name, these are completely different vehicles:
- F-150 Raptor — built on Ford's T3 full-size truck platform. Body-on-frame, originally an F-150 with HOSS suspension. Long-standing Raptor DNA dating to 2010.
- Bronco Raptor — built on Ford's U725 SUV platform (shared with the standard Bronco). Body-on-frame SUV with IFS front, shorter wheelbase, optimised for trail agility.
The key engineering decision: the F-150 Raptor uses double-wishbone front suspension while the Bronco Raptor uses independent front suspension (IFS) with a five-link rear.[1] Both achieve similar travel figures but with different geometry philosophies.

All figures per Ford published data aggregated across Cars.com, Ford Authority, and Edmunds tests.[1] Approach/departure figures are for Raptor R variant of F-150; non-R Raptors differ slightly.
3. Which one for what use?
-
UAE off-road (Liwa, Wadi, rocks): Bronco Raptor wins
The shorter wheelbase (28.9" less than F-150) and dramatically better approach/breakover/departure angles make the Bronco Raptor the more capable off-road tool in tight terrain. Stock 37" tires + beadlock-capable wheels mean less aftermarket upgrading needed before serious off-roading.
-
High-speed desert (Sweihan, Liwa flats): F-150 Raptor wins
The longer wheelbase stabilises the truck at 120+ km/h across corrugations. The HOSS suspension with its long-travel dampers is purpose-built for Baja-style high-speed desert work — that's the Raptor nameplate's original mission. Bronco Raptor is capable here but the F-150 was designed for it.
-
Touring, towing, daily driver: F-150 Raptor wins
Bed space, towing capacity (8,200+ lbs for F-150 Raptor vs 4,500 lbs for Bronco Raptor), and ride quality on highway all favour the F-150. If the Raptor will primarily be a daily driver or family tower, the F-150 is the more livable choice.
-
Roof-off, weekends in nature, style: Bronco Raptor wins
The Bronco's removable roof and doors aren't practical differentiators — they're lifestyle ones. For owners who want the "top-down adventure" vibe, the F-150 simply doesn't offer that.

Heat & fluid cooling
Both Raptors have twin-turbo engines (EcoBoost V6) plus the Raptor R's supercharged 5.2L V8 option on the F-150. Intercooler and transmission cooling performance under sustained UAE summer heat is a factor — both benefit from an upgraded transmission cooler if you plan on regular Liwa or Abu Dhabi summer runs.
Fuel octane
Both engines are engineered for 91 octane minimum; ARB-recommended operation is 95 octane for full-rated power. UAE Super 95/98 fuel meets spec. Skip 91 for hot-weather driving — the knock margin is tight.
Tires
The factory 37"/35" tires work adequately for UAE dunes, though aggressive tread compounds aren't optimal in soft sand (see our dune driving guide). Many UAE Raptor owners switch to less-aggressive all-terrains for better flotation.
Insurance & warranty
Factory warranty coverage in the UAE varies by year — verify your Ford dealer's position on modifications before fitting aftermarket parts. Steel bumpers, re-geared axles, and lockers can affect specific warranty coverage.
6. Frequently asked questions
Which is better in Liwa dunes?
Bronco Raptor for tight technical sections (smaller dunes, switchbacks). F-150 Raptor for high-speed open desert. Both are capable; choice depends on use style more than capability ceiling.
Can I use F-150 Raptor suspension on a Bronco Raptor?
No — completely different chassis, suspension mount geometry, and spring lengths. The platforms don't share suspension parts. Always buy Bronco-specific or F-150-specific kits.
Do they share engines?
Yes — both use Ford's 3.0L EcoBoost V6 variants (Bronco Raptor: 3.0L V6; F-150 Raptor: 3.5L V6 twin-turbo; F-150 Raptor R: 5.2L supercharged V8). Aftermarket intakes like the aFe Momentum XP are engine-specific.
Are beadlock-capable wheels actually DOT legal in the UAE?
Specific UAE regulations on beadlock wheels aren't publicly documented. The factory Bronco Raptor beadlock-capable wheels ship from Ford and are type-approved as OEM — they're safer than most aftermarket beadlocks. Check with your insurer if you swap to aftermarket beadlocks. See our beadlock guide.
Which has better resale value in the UAE?
Historical F-150 Raptor resale has been strong. Bronco Raptor is new enough that long-term resale is unclear, but early market signs are favourable. Both hold value well because they're low-volume halo models.
What about a regular Bronco with lift + 37s — isn't that cheaper than a Raptor?
Yes, significantly. A standard Bronco Sasquatch + aftermarket suspension + 37s approximates Bronco Raptor capability at 60-70% of the price. The premium for "factory Raptor" goes to the engine, brakes, Fox shocks, and warranty — real engineering, not cosmetic badges.
